Even socially, the alternative below will lead to future business contacts.…

Jill Tanenbaum attention to detail

There is such a lack of attention to detail at the Bethesda Sport and Health Club that if i were

the manager, I'd be embarassed.

Let's start with the fact that the women's locker room has been missing benches at the stations for probably over a year. There used to be furniture in the room with the TV (although it was stained and

broken) but thankfully it was removed over six months ago and never replaced. There used to be several

clocks in the locker…

Chad Javon OOOOOOOO My Legs

Been a while!  Nothing new to report really.  Just got off a weeks worth of rest away from the gym and boy did I need it.  I pretty much murdered my legs this past Tuesday , 2 days later, I'm hardly walking.  Very sore... but I kinda like it :).  NO pain no gain.  Resting up and recovering so I can get back at it today.

LELIA Getting back on track

After a wonderful 2 week vacation in Greece. and a symultaneous gym lag to accompany my jet lag. I now know how quickly I can loose the stamina for a really intense workout session. it feels good to be back in the game but it is not without a struggle. I am not exactly sure when I'll be up to par but at least I have my focus back on the prize.

Randy Mouri MY QUEST FOR RAAM 2011: The Final Outcome

I know there was a big gap between posts, however as my race approached I had to check out and focus on the matter at hand.

The bottom line is that I completed the Race Across AMerica in 11 days, 1 hour and 13 minutes.  I would not complete this journey alone.  My crew of 10 consisted of my wife, a doctor, a physical therapist, a massage therapist, a chef, a bike mechanic and 4 additional crew members with talents that favored a successful finish.  They would occupy 2 mini…

Jonathan Anderson Workout intensity and recovery… Can’t have one without the other!

Not knowing and understand how workout intensity and recovery coincide together will negate almost most, if not all, attempts to improve (grow, excel, accomplish) on any exercise program.  Chiropractors, Doctors, Sports Therapist, Physical Therapist, Professional Athletes, and Athletic Trainers understand how vital recuperation plays against burn-out and/or injury.

The answer is pretty involved, but simply put, humans should not train the same muscle group before achieving 80-100%…

Jonathan Anderson Fast twitch or slow twitch muscle fiber… What the heck?

Working out (exercise) is important for anybody to maintain health, fitness, strength, mobility, and much more, but so what – if I exercise why do I need to know about muscle fiber?

Well, if your fitness goal is to merely maintain general health, than anything that raises your hart rate between 60-85% will do it.  But if you’re seeking muscle mass to increase your metabolic burn rate, then you need to know your muscle fiber type.  Why?  Because knowing your muscle type tells you what…

Robert Perry I Made It Up and Down Kilimanjaro!

Last year, I blogged a couple of times about training to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa--19,340 feet high, give or take a few feet for the snow--for my 60th birthday and how much Adam and Daryl at Reston Sport & Health helped me get ready for this amazing adventure.

Well...I MADE IT on my own two feet, and that is all I'll claim. I celebrated the best birthday ever at 15,800 feet at the foot of Lava Tower, and the crew of Wilderness Adventure "tough guys" gave…

Carlos Hernandez Reducing the risk of heart disease

To ward off heart disease it is necessary to do two things: keep the heart muscle strong and keep the blood flowing. The simpler part of the effort is keeping the heart muscle strong. This is done through aerobic exercise. Exercise is also important to help keep the blood flowing, but it is not sufficient.

Diabetes, obesity,…

Carlos Hernandez Health Consequences of Obesity

The primary concern of overweight and obesity is one of health and not appearance.

Premature death
